How is charging cost calculated?
The cost of charging an EV depends on three main factors: your vehicle's battery capacity, the desired charge range (SoC), and the electricity price per kWh.
Our calculator uses 95% of the battery's usable capacity (5% is reserved by the battery management system) and adds a 15% overhead for charging losses and battery conditioning. This gives you a more realistic estimate than a simple calculation.
Electricity prices vary by charger type — DC fast chargers are typically more expensive, while home charging via an AC wallbox is the most affordable option, depending on your electricity tariff.
