How is EV range calculated?

An electric vehicle's range depends on battery capacity, current state of charge (SoC), and energy consumption, which varies with driving conditions.

City driving is the most efficient thanks to regenerative braking — consumption is typically 15% lower than the WLTP combined figure. Highway driving at higher speeds increases consumption by roughly 15% due to aerodynamic drag.

Real-world range is also affected by outside temperature (can drop 20–30% in winter), terrain, heating or air conditioning, and driving style. Our calculator uses 95% of the battery's usable capacity.
