Charging on the D1 Highway — Complete Station Map

Where to charge your EV on the Prague–Brno–Ostrava route

NajdiNabíječku.cz Editorial 8 min read

The D1 highway is the backbone of the Czech motorway network and the most popular route for EV drivers. Along the 370 km between Prague and Ostrava (via Brno), you will find dozens of charging stations. This guide helps you plan stops for a stress-free journey.

Prague → Brno (210 km)

On this section, we recommend one stop around km 90–120 (Humpolec/Velký Beranov). Most modern EVs with 60+ kWh batteries can complete the section without charging, but having a buffer is wise.

Key stations

Km 21 — Průhonice: ČEZ 150 kW, 2× CCS2 + CHAdeMO. Km 90 — Humpolec: Ionity 350 kW (4× CCS2), ideal midway stop. Km 104 — Velký Beranov: ČEZ 150 kW + Shell Recharge 150 kW. Km 141 — Velké Meziříčí: Orlen 150 kW. Km 178 — Ostrovačice: E.ON 75 kW + ČEZ 50 kW.

Brno → Ostrava (170 km)

Shorter section but with fewer stations. We recommend charging in Brno or near Vyškov (km 230) and potentially topping up at Hranice (km 295).

Key stations

Km 210 — Brno-South: Tesla Supercharger 250 kW (8× CCS2). Km 230 — Vyškov: ČEZ 150 kW + Orlen 150 kW. Km 272 — Lipník nad Bečvou: E.ON 75 kW. Km 295 — Hranice: ČEZ 150 kW. Km 340 — Ostrava-Hrabůvka: Ionity 350 kW (6× CCS2).

Tips for driving on D1

The fastest stations on the route are Ionity at Humpolec (350 kW) and Tesla Supercharger in Brno (250 kW). For a 20→80% charge, expect 20–25 minutes at Ionity, 25–30 minutes at Tesla. Both locations have restaurants within walking distance.

On Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings, the Humpolec station tends to be busy. Plan an alternative (Velký Beranov, km 104). At night, stations are empty — ideal for overnight drives.

How much does Prague → Brno cost?

At 20 kWh/100 km highway consumption and one DC charge at Humpolec (Ionity Passport, €0.35/kWh), the charging cost is approximately €8. With home charging on both ends (€0.18/kWh), total trip costs are around €14. Petrol equivalent: €36–48.
